Alicya will join Emmerdale as one half of a new lesbian couple who will arrive on the Dales. Alicya arrives with Ali Spencer – the younger sister of character Rachel Breckle, to start a new life together after Ali left her husband.

Ali will be played by Shameless star Kelli Hollis.

Alicya told the official Emmerdale website: “I’m over the moon and can’t wait to get started. Being part of a show that I’ve grown up watching is amazing and Ruby is going to be a lot of fun to play.”

Emmerdale series producer Stuart Blackburn said: “Ali and Ruby are down to earth, gritty, funny and likeable and after leaving her husband of 15 years, Ali has a lot riding on making her new life in Emmerdale work.”

The Bad Girls star – who will now have worked with Shed Productions on three projects – Bad Girls, Bombshell (as Gaynor) and now Waterloo Road, will play a character called Sandi.

A native of Liverpool, Alicya has also played several parts in Casualty and Holby City and will appear in Waterloo Road’s new ten part series.

Alicya previously played Denny Blood in Bad Girls for five series – and was asked back for a ninth, before Bad Girls was axed by ITV in 2006.

There are no confirmed dates, but Alicya’s character in Silent Witness is set to appear in the fourteenth series in 2011., where she will play Joanne McDermott in episodes named First Casualty (Pt I & II).

ALICYA WILL APPEAR IN “PARADOX” ON BBC ONE

Alicya will be back on the screens of the BBC this week with a roll in the new Tasmin Outhwaite Drama, “Paradox”.

Alicya will be starring in it’s third episode, which will air on Tuesday, 8th December 2009 at 9pm.

Alicya will play Jean Fellowes, and the synopsis of the episode is as follows;

A serial rapist is due to violently attack and murder in a few hours, and Rebecca is determined not to let this happen. But Rebecca is beginning to feel conflicted about their new role; for the first time, she begins to question the responsibility involved in seeing the future, and worries she might even be helping to cause the incidents they are supposed to stop.

The episode will be available to view to people inside of the United Kingdom by using BBC’s free iPlayer service. A decent broadband connect is required for watching.
